Lisa and Richard live in Greenville, SC which is right on the cusp of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Lisa used to be mainly a beachy-type girl. But after going to UT and Virginia Tech, in addition to being around Richard for a while, she's concluded that the mountains ain't half bad. Richard loves the cooler (or downright friggin' cold) air, and Lisa enjoys the beautiful scenery. And both Lisa and Richard love tasty mountain "cuisine"....bring on the fried pork chops, fried taters, and blackberry cobbler (a la mode, please)!
From fancy trips to Blackberry Farm and the Greystone Inn to rustic but lovely cabin stays at the Kentucky and Georgia State Parks, they've certainly enjoyed their mountain trips. Most of their trips have been in the Blue Ridge, Smoky, and Appalachian mountains. But trips to Alaska and Nevada have provided more rugged mountains to view and admire.
Winter is a favorite time for Lisa and Richard to go to the mountains. It's less crowded, the rates are great, and the stark winter scenery has a distinctive beauty of its own. They just have to make sure that they take Lisa's 4-wheel drive, and that Richard does the driving!
