We like to save up our money for travel and travel-related eating. So most of the time when we're in Greenville, Lisa cooks at home. But there are 2 places that we can't resist here in Greenville......33 Liberty and Bistro Europa. It took Lisa a year or two to get Richard in the mood to try out 33, but from that first meal there at the Chef's Counter he's been hooked. John and Amy have a way with food that just won't quit.
For a more casual (but still really nice) dinner or a great lunch, Bistro Europa (and Chef Ben Gold) can't be beat. We like the way John, Ben, and Amy all take Southern Cuisine to a whole new level, without making it weirded-out or fusion-confusioned. They let the wonderful, fresh food speak for itself (with a few accents of their own tossed in for tasty measure).
Since they've become our faves, Richard's gone on to do websites and photography for both 33 Liberty and Bistro Europa. But he doesn't have to work real hard to make their food look good. It's oh so good!
There are only two restaurants in Greenville that don't suck -
33 Liberty and
Bistro Europa. That isn't surprising for a city that voted IHOP as its best international restaurant and where throngs flock to the likes of Red Lobster. If you can actually appreciate seriously good food, you owe it to yourself to forget the chains and check these two places out.
